What is Ripe Fruit?

Expressed citrus oils have been used throughout modern perfumery to brighten the opening of a broad range of scent categories. Naturally-derived materials and isolates from these materials can be used to approximate the scents of other fruits. It was not until the 1980’s that aromachemicals creating fruit accords began to be introduced to floral compositions, creating the fruity floral category. With the dominance of fresh scents in the 1990’s, the fresh fruity-floral or fresh fruity category emerged. Over the last two decades, the fruity category has advanced considerably, now achieving long-lasting, realistic, yet not overly sweet fruit notes.

Why Ripe Fruit Is the Right Scent for You

Those born under Gemini tend to be whimsical, yet potentially moody. The fruit scents, still a novelty in the perfume world, define whimsical. They are worn to be enjoyed. These are the scents of summer, with the initial blast of aldehydes keeping things from getting cloying. Some unexpected herbal or spice notes may appeal to the Gemini’s active imagination.

These scents are fitting (expected) for one who wants a public spectacle of flirtatiousness without too much sexuality early in a relationship. If you don’t like fruit in your dessert, you probably won’t want to smell it all day from your perfume. And if you don’t think hanging with friends at the beach or an amusement park is a good idea, don’t buy that blackberry perfume. If the thought of someone wearing passion fruit turns you on, run to the fruit aisle of your local perfumer.
