What is Summer at the Beach?

We are talking about calone, or watermelon ketone, an aromachemical discovered in the 1960’s and first used in the late 80’s. Calone took commercial perfume by storm during the ensuing decade (1990’s=freshie) and embedded itself deep in the public psyche as the smell of water and the beach. Calone smells like fresh, clean, watery, melon, ozone, and ocean. The first scent to use calone in heavy doses, even listing it as a note, was Aramis New West, which was marketed as the scent of the California beach.

Modifiers of this central aspect have shifted over time, but generally include a citrus opening and some form of a dry white musk and woody base note.

Why Summer at the Beach Is the Right Scent for You

In love, PIsces is said to be like the mermaid luring sailors into the sea, reflecting the way that those born under the water sign become deeply engaged with lovers and can attach to their problems. Pisces need the water, often more contemplative than playful in its presence. Like the other water signs, those born under Cancer are drawn to the water, whether for their career or leisure. They want nothing more than to live close to the ocean and to be able to swim in it regularly. Leo, center of attention, the only sign ruled by the sun, relishes in the freedom, sun, and unabashed sexuality of the beach. Those born under Gemini are social butterflies looking for a good time with friends. There is no better place than the beach to pursue their flirtatious approach to meeting mates.

Summer at the Beach is for those who prefer intense flirting in public over private, platonic activities or moving straight into sex early in a relationship. Chocolate ice cream on a cone, blueberry pie, desserts that tie deeply to memories of carefree summers and connections with friends and family. Happy smells like sun tanning lotion and sexy smells like more of the same with some sweat and narcotic florals. Diet or regular, you are likely to be drinking a cola, a smoothie after a workout, and a plastic cup of Chardonnay on the beach.

Clearly, you are Charlize Theron in The Fate of the Furious.
